It lets you view the status of your NAS drive without having to access the drive itself. If your NAS drive is giving you some network issues, you can do a simple reset of just the network settings.
Start by locating the reset button on the back of your NAS drive. Next, get a paper clip or a SIM card removal tool and hold down the reset button for about five seconds—until you hear a beep. Then let go immediately. A more likely scenario for a handful of users would be completely resetting the DSM operating system, but still keeping all of their data intact on the hard drives—this is great for those upgrading to a new NAS box, or if DSM is just giving you some issues and you just want to wipe and start fresh.Employee provident fund nepal login

If you want to go the more extreme route, you can completely reset everything, including wiping all data off the hard drives.
This is also a bit easier to do since you can do this right from DSM, rather than having to deal with the physical reset button on the device. In reply to Aaron Windsor :. Is the NAS inside the same Ethernet segment as the device you're using to access it? If so, why do you think the traffic goes through the UTM? You've already tried part of 1 in Rulzbut you should try the other parts, too.
I don't think UTM has nothing to do with this.

The first method is both the most intuitive and least intuitive method all at once: the power button. On your Synology NAS, however, pressing and holding the power button on the device does not trigger a hard reset by cutting the power.
To restart your NAS, simply press the power button again. Click the options menu, indicated by the little head and shoulders bust icon.
If you want to automatically schedule when your NAS shuts down and boots up, you can do so using the power scheduling feature. To avoid frustration and failed configurations, either change your already existing scheduled tasks if any or plan your power schedule around them. The scheduling system is simple and straightforward. The time menu uses 24 hour time. The Best Tech Newsletter Anywhere. Want to know more?If you have a home or work network set up for your Windows PC, you may also be mapping network shares to drive letters. Mapped drives are very convenient as they allow accessing network files and folders just like a regular local drive. Sometimes in Windows 10, mapped drives do not always automatically and reliably reconnect at logon. Let us see how to fix this issue.
If a mapped network drive wasn't reconnected, any program that tries to access resources on the mapped network drive fails. When you create a mapped network drive, there is an option 'Reconnect at logon' which you can check so that every time Windows logs on, they are automatically mounted using the current user's logon credentials. If you check 'Connect using different credentials', then you can specify a different user name and password.
The problem: When Windows 10 logs on, there is a timing issue which causes it to attempt to map the network drives before the network is available. This results in them being unavailable sometimes. If you press Refresh in Windows Explorer or double click the drive, they instantly become available.

This will open the Save dialog. There, type or copy-paste the name "reconnect. You can save the file to any desired location. Refer to the following article: How to add or remove startup apps in Windows Move the reconnect.

Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It only takes a minute to sign up. Note that I have also cross posted this to Synology forums. I'm posting here because I'm not sure if the problem is with Windows or with the Synology server:. For the past year, and up until about a week ago, all workstations were able to access all Synology servers fine. However, I can ping the server just fine using the ip.
If this were happening to all my workstations, I'd assume the Synology server was at fault. But all the other workstations have no problem accessing this one Synology box. If this were happening with all Synology servers on this one machine, I'd assume the workstation was at fault. But the workstation has no problem accessing the other Synology boxes on the same network, and up until a week ago had no problem with the specific box in question.
Nothing has changed on my end, except of course that there are automatic updates for both Synology and for Windows There are a number of things you can check Ping can be a useful tool, but can also give you many false-positives. For this exact situation, I solved it by going to "Turn Windows features on or off" and ensuring that all three options under "SMB 1.
Any other Advanced settings out of order, compared to the other Synologies? Something to look at: years ago it was necessary to lower the Windows NTLM authentication on the workstation to a less secure level to be able to connect to a Synology fileshare using Windows Explorer. I can't find the specific settings for now, but google for it.
Thanks to TheCompWiz, using net use from the command line gave me a more detailed error message, indicating that Windows could not access the share for security reasons as SMB1 access is deprecated and the server was only allowing SMB1 connections not sure why. After changing the server settings to allow SMB2 connections, the problem was fixed.
I'm also not sure why I only had this problem on one machine and only one user, and all other machines were able to access the share with no problem when they are all running the latest version of Windows 10 Pro. But I'm not going to worry about that right now - everything is working fine.

Maybe something else has hijacked the mac-address, or a duplicate IP in the network. Are you dropping any packets? Maybe you have a bad cable or ethernet port on switch or device.
